From the collection of Nicki Harper
“Scottish samplers are often easily identified by their colour palette: intense shades of red, green and rose, as well as by clusters or rows of initials of family members. This small sampler includes motifs usually seen on samplers of the seventeenth century, including the Ikat-like geometric designs and the large flower in the lower reserve.
Stitches used are cross, straight, eyelet, and long arm cross.
On 35 count linen, the finished sampler would measure approximately 20 cms x 20 cms.
Recommended for all skill levels.
