Kathy Barrick says: "It was love at first sight when I found this antique sampler. It came to me from Virginia, and spent a good amount of time in Vermont. Where it spent time before that is a mystery. I believe the antique was stitched in The Netherlands as the motifs in the sampler are typical to that area, most especially the church, the storks, the large birds, the flower baskets and the well."
Reproduction is stitched on 40-Count Havanna from Weeks Dye Works using Needlepoint Silks and Willow Green Silk 'N Colors from The Thread Gatherer. This sampler is stitched almost exclusively in cross stitch.
NPS: 293, 565, 542, 692, 693, 706, 813, 876, 957, 992. Two skeins of 992 & 542 will be needed.
The two pincushions are also stitched (and backed) with 40-Count Havanna from WDW. Both pincushions are edged with Cotton Chenille Trim in Aged Saffron from Dames of the needle, From the Cauldron.
