JANE SMITH 1814
This wonderfully symmetrical English sampler features a pair of silky floating swans and large twin sunflowers, executed in a rich natural palette of color. Birds fly over the tops of three flower-trees in the top third. A sumptuous basket of fruit is stitched between the golden swans, and towering sunflowers flank the attribution in the lower third of the sampler.
Stitches used are only cross and counted satin, making this a suitable project for any level of skill.
On 40 count linen the reproduction will most closely approximate the size of the original sampler, which measured 13″ x 18″.
